JNMC Enters our 17th Year of Mission

.... JNMC Activities from September to December 2023

September 2023

Our community is blessed to continue supporting organizations who help those with great needs and those in need of our support

P.A.T.H.   People Against Trafficking Humans

We hosted the Executive Director of P.A.T.H., Julie Palmer, at our Sunday mass, and learned about their mission to help innocent people being exploited in WNY.   The organization's mission is to end human trafficking through education, prevention and restoration. The PATH Enrichment Center is a safe place for lives to be enriched and hope to be restored through therapeutic support services.

October 2023

Harvest House celebrated it's 30th Year of Service and honored several individuals and groups at a celebration at the Buffalo Museum of History.  The JNMC was honored as a group that supported Harvest House from the very beginning:  first as the ECCN Newman Center, and then as the JNMC.

Mission for October:  Timau Mission
Our community support goes to the Timau Mission, overseen by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities.   We have supported this mission for over twenty years (going back to the original pancake breakfasts at the Newman Center).   Sister Joanne Gangloff, OSF, spoke to us after mass and explained how the drought in Kenya has caused years of difficulty for the community.  Their first priority is clean water and a steady supply for the entire community, which can be drawn from a deep well starting with a bore hole.  Our community donation should help the mission fund this new project, providing consistent water supply for those at the mission and nearby.   Sister Joanne thanked us for our continued care and generosity and love.  The education and skills and experiences these students receive enable them to provide a better life for themselves and their families.      The photo shows John Roba, presenting the donation to Sister Joanne.

Thank You to Our Trusty Helpers!

Thank you to Jack Michel for his steadfast loyalty to our community.  Sunday after Sunday, Jack comes very early to clean the Legion Post and set up the chairs for our Sunday worship.    Jack was responsible for helping us gain access to the facility since the autumn of 2020.
Thank you, Frank Mischler, for being a set-up person for our Sunday morning worship, and for always coordinating those who have special roles during the liturgy.   And, a very special THANK YOU for the floral arrangements for so many Feast Day liturgies.

Thank you, Mary and Dale Gould, for setting up the altar week after week during the summer and fall.   Your tasteful decorations make the altar a focus of our attention for all the right reasons.

   November 2023
Mission Support goes to VETS Herd

Our mission support this months supports VETS Herd, a local organization, which supports military veterans who have special needs that are not being addressed by the VA.   Examples include special modifications to homes to accommodate wheel chairs, and other special needs.  They also provide physical activities to help veterans suffering with Parkinson's disease.

Returning to the Meeting House in Williamsville
On December 10th, after 3 1/2 years at the American Legion, Lamm Post, the JNMC returned for Sunday liturgy at the Meeting House.    We are grateful for the hospitality extended to the JNMC by the staff of the Lamm Post.
