January 2022 - March 2022 -- Mission Support
In January, our community is supporting Harvest House, as they continue serving the people of Buffalo with free health care, free dental care, free clothing for children and a very active adult education and training center.
The following is a message from a staff member regarding the essence of faith-based ministry to people in need. It comes from the CCHF (Christian Community Health Fellowship) and is a very appropriate reminder. This is what Harvest House Ministries does every day, with their patients, clients and students. It exemplifies their focus and commitment to being a God-centered place where they serve Him first.
What makes a Health Center Christian?
Patient Care - On our best day, we recognize Jesus coming to us through our patients, and our care for them becomes an act of worship. We treat patients as though they were Christ.
Organizational Culture - Honoring God's presence in our workplace determines the way we treat our co-workers, the
way we make decisions, and creates an atmosphere where love, joy, and peace are often palpable.
Advocates for Christ's Kingdom - We have a prophetic call to address brokenness in the communities where He has placed us. We use our voices to advocate for those who suffer and are marginalized, and invite authorities in those communities to turn with us to Christ and His kingdom to be healed.
Investing Beyond Our Interests - We recognize that we are a small but significant part of a greater thing that God is doing. Therefore, we sow ourselves and resources in ways that may seem counter-intuitive - we train students, help other pioneers open clinics in un-reached and under-served areas.

One of the doctors quoted says that the closest he has ever felt to God was in the exam room. The feeling is the same when working with clients in the Baby Ministry. God is present with every client, patient, and student coming to Harvest House each and every day.
===============================
We will miss our dear friend, Len Castrianno. May he now rest in peace, reunited with his loving son, Leonard, his loving daughter, Carolyn, and his dear wife, Nancy.
At the mass of Christian burial, Father Paul paid tribute to Len, by quoting Robert Lewis Stevenson:
"The man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had."
February 2022 -- Little Portion Friary
Despite the many challenges of the COVID pandemic, this home the homeless has continued to shelter people in need. At present, the population has been restricted to men only, but the plan for 2022 is to return to men and women in residence.
March 2022 -- Kathleen Mary House
Mission support was planned for this safe house for victims of domestic abuse. Sadly, it has been reported that domestic abuse cases have increased during the past years of the pandemic. For reasons that have not been disclosed, the facility has been closed.
